(RTTNews) - Iran has released two detained Russians, but their health is "unsatisfactory,"
the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
Employees of the Kazakh-Iranian gold-mining joint venture 'ZarKuh,' including two Russians, were held in Iran on April 5. The released Russians are currently in a hotel in Tehran, but their physical condition is "unsatisfactory," the Ministry said in a statement.
It said the Russians were given the required medicines and would be examined by a Russian Embassy doctor "at the earliest opportunity."
No specific charges were filed against the detainees, and the reasons behind their arrests were yet to be clarified. "We expect the Iranian authorities to give thorough explanations about this incident," the statement quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency said.
